I grew up in [place] and spent most of my early twenties trying on different versions of useful. Some of them stuck. I now spend my days as a grantmaker at [organization], where I work on [focus area].

What I do now

My current portfolio is centered on [primary program]. The short version: I look for people who could move a field if they had the resources to try, and I try to give them those resources without getting in the way. The longer version takes a coffee.

I also help shape the strategy for [secondary program], and spend an unreasonable amount of time reading papers, talking to researchers, and arguing with friends about what's actually important.

Before this

Earlier I did [previous role] at [previous org], where I worked on [topic]. Before that, [earlier still — a sentence is plenty]. The through-line, if there is one, is an interest in the places where small numbers of people can do disproportionate amounts of good.

Education

I studied [field] at [institution], and [graduate work, if relevant]. I read more outside my degrees than inside them, which is probably true of most people who admit it.

Other things

Off-hours I [hobby], [hobby], and occasionally [hobby]. I'm slowly learning [new thing]. I keep a list of [recurring obsession]. None of this is on a CV, and none of it should be.
